The Appointment of Michigan’s Honorary Counselor

On March 17th 2005 President Sezer, Prime Minister Erdogan and Foreign Minister Gul has appointed Nurten Ural as Honorary Consul General of Turkey for the State of Michigan. In her capacity as Honorary Consul General, Ms. Ural will represent Turkish interests in the United States and the State of Michigan.

Nurten will be able to increase Turkey’s visibility and presence. Her duties will be to protect the interests of Turkish citizens through legal, administrative or other services, together with promotion of economic, commercial, cultural and touristic relations. She will offer emergency consular assistance.

All enquiries regarding passport, immigration and visa matters will continue to be handled by the Turkish Consulate General in Chicago.
